  Poker Players’ Alliance (PPA) News

The Poker Players’ Alliance (PPA), one of the most prominent poker organisations in the world, has listed 58 congressional candidates, who it believes to have a strong commitment to giving top priority to the issue of regularising online poker in the United States of America.

The PPA will endorse these candidates during the mid-term elections, which are just around the corner. The elections will be held on the 2nd of November, during which the House of Representative seats and a third of the Senate seats will face re-election.

Forty-three of the candidates in the PPA list are Democrats and the rest are Republicans; two of these Republicans are incumbents. According to a PPA press statement, the number of elected officials who understand the value of regulating and legalising online poker is on the rise as a result of the efforts of the dedicated members of PPA.

The alliance believes in the importance of the current year’s election and advocates electing candidates who sympathise with online poker players and are ready to support their rights. Poker enthusiasts will have to play a huge role in ensuring that the right candidates are elected by voting for them.

Although Barney Frank’s Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act found its way into the House of Representatives, it failed to get a full vote this year. Political analysts feel that the bill might not make much progress, which means that the issue of legalising online poker is back to square one. Experts expect a higher Republican estimation this year; however, the effects that this will have on gaming legislation reform cannot be ascertained.
